Darth Nader

So the elections over and Obama will be President if he makes it into office without being assassinated. I think we all know the potential of that happening is horrifically plenty. I hope he doesn't. I'm glad he's going to be president. He's a great speaker and seems to be genuine. He has a great story and he very well inspire an entire nation. I was hoping he'd win... but I didn't vote for him.

I voted for Nader.

My brother always seems to forget Nader's first name. "What is it, Garth?" To which I always reply, "no, it's Darth."

I'm proud to say I voted for Ralph Nader... even my four year old daughter knows it. And I don't mind so much that he didn't win or come close to it. That was never my goal for voting for him. Sure it would have been nice. Just as it'll be nice when I finally roll that pencil of the table with my mind. I can dream.

For me, voting for Nader was always about voting for an ideal... voting for what should be instead of what could be. Voting the way that those bastards that wrote the constitution meant for us to vote... for the candidate that we deemed most fit.

A lot of the people I talked to about Nader didn't even know he was running (again). They replied with a chuckle as if to say "that ole coot's at it again?" And do you know why many people didn't know he was running? Money. Because money makes our world go round and the democrats and the republicans have all of it. It's a Duopoly and it sucks. But people are content because they get their drama and still have a choice to side with just like Dancing with the Stars.

But one day the people will get sick of it. One day when it hits their wallets hard or takes enough of their children's' lives through blatant senselessness, the people will change the way the government operates. We have that power. We just need to be motivated enough to use it. Change like that rarely happens all at once because inspiration comes at different times. I'm proud to be a part of it though and I'll keep voting for Nader as long as that ole coot keeps runnin'.
